Gloet in Vånevik, ie the place where you are located, was, for 50 years ago, an attractive playground for mainly pike and perch.
Efforts to restore Gloet to its origins began in autumn 2011 and will continue for many years to come. The goal is to restore the fish's playground and thus help to improve the situation of fish stocks in the Baltic Sea.
The land is owned by the municipality of Oskarshamn but it is Våneviks community association responsible for the management of the site. We are currently working on the final work around Gloet. Walking trails, bridges over the inlet and outlet are the great works before we subsequently deal with maintenance / care of the whole area.
It is now of course our hope that both wildlife and people come to thrive in the restored area.
